A live painting for a wedding near Toulouse

Today I would like to tell you the story of a beautiful wedding near Toulouse. And I would like to show and explain to you all the creation behind a live painting for this wedding!

How I create a live painting for a wedding in Toulouse

M & A contacted me about one year before their wedding (you know, sometimes, the bride and groom contact me two years before the wedding, to be sure I will be available!!).

They were looking for a live painting for their wedding ceremony. As they live in Toulouse (and I am in Toulon), we met in a video call (I used to call my client with a video when they lived far in France or another country).

They explained what they had in mind for their wedding day. They planned an outside wedding ceremony in front of the Chateau Lavalade in Castelsarrasin, near Toulouse.

A personalized live painting

The bride and groom had a precise idea of the painting and the elements of the composition. Of course, they wanted to have the wedding ceremony and all the guests in front of this beautiful Chateau near Toulouse!

I had to add their cute two cats next to the ceremony. They also want to add a live music band and a big, colorful surprise for their guests: a hot air balloon!

How I create a live wedding painting

With all those elements, I tried to translate the bride and groom’s ideas into a drawing. It was the first and the only sketch I drew. M&A was immediately satisfied with it! Here is the drawing:

But you will see, the final result with the painting will be a little bit different! The chateau will be more in the background, the ceremony will take more space in the composition, the live music band will be in a corner… and definitely, the hot air balloon will be bigger!!

The live painting on the wedding day

The D-Day is here! I was so excited to paint live this special wedding!

We are on a sunny day in August near Toulouse, Southwest of France. I found a place in the shadow where I could have a beautiful view of the Chateau, backward from the wedding ceremony.

First, I began my drawing before the beginning of the ceremony. I drew the chateau in the background, and the empty chairs (the guests are not here for the moment!).

When the ceremony began, it was the most intense moment! All the guests were seated and not moving… It was the best moment to draw everyone!

During the cocktail time, I continued my drawing, and I sketched the music group and the big surprise… the guests discovered the hot air balloon! The guests seemed so happy to ride in it! (I must admit that I too would have liked to ride with them!).

It was the perfect moment for me to draw this great and colorful entertainment! After the hot air balloon time, I began to add the colors before night forced me back inside.

During the evening, I continued to add the colors to the painting. The guests loved to see the creation of the live painting throughout the wedding day and the evening. And they were so surprised to see and to recognize themselves in the painting!!

Here is the result at the end of my artistic service.

It takes so much time to paint each guest, with their outfits, their hair, their hats… (the theme of the wedding was « the roaring twenties», so that everybody had clothing of this historic period or an accessory).

(Usually, I paint for about 8-9 hours on-site for a live painting. If I have many people to paint and too many details in the background, the painting is not completed on D-Day, and I will complete it in my studio.

And here is the completed live painting with all the elements the newlyweds wanted: the chateau in the background, the bride and groom during the wedding ceremony, all the guests, the live music band, the hot air balloon, and you can even see the two cats!

And I know that your question now is: I would love to have Kiara for my wedding day!

But is she available on my wedding day?! One way to know that is to send me a message to ask me directly!!
